Here are a few pictures of the very unfinished space:
Our bed is up against a window, so a headboard will really help frame the space. |
This picture most accurately depicts the color. I am not getting good color match with my camera! |
So, while the colors are just perfect, there are some things missing. I would love a headboard, a bench at the end of the bed, a big mirror. (Read more about that here. We have never had a heaboard! I have been pondering the idea of making one for years. It was much more recently that I decided to really go for it. Well, I haven't gone for it yet, but I am close to actually doing it. My dad is visiting this weekend, so perhaps this is the time to go for it!
Here are some great inspirations that I have come across in the past few months:
Centsational Girl |
Colette Bed from Crate and Barrel I have no idea why the picture is so small! |
This one here from Shoestring Sophistication is what I am going to go for:
And here it is upclose:
I love everything about it -the shape, the fabric, the nail head trim. Awesome!! And, she has an awesome tutorial that tells each step. How great!
I can't wait to post pictures of when we do it! And, more importantly I can't wait to see how it transforms my room :)
I love those headboards too! I've been going through the same thing, I'm super scared to try and make one and then goof it up and waste money! I'm also considering an inexpensive bed from Ikea that I go and visit every time I'm in the store:) I say go for it if it's what you really want especially if your dad is willing to help!
ReplyDeleteLove that color of blue! I'm a fan of fabric headboards too! Go for it!
ReplyDeletewe have the same issue where our bed is right in front of a window. i bought a bed a couple years ago from ovestock that i have liked, but i, too, have been wanting one of those lovely upholstered headboards! i love them- i was always worried it would look silly in front of a window, but lately i have been wondering how i can sneakily get rid of our bed and do that... ;) would chris notice? actually he might not. :) can't wait to see what you do- are you going to build your own?
ReplyDeleteHey, you had a question on my mirror over the fireplace, yes, I did make it. I used a thrift store mirror and then added door shims...Email me and then I'll send you a link if you want....Lisa
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration! I love it. I'll see if I can find out the color of your bedroom :)
